Turmeric Powder by Quiwi Foods

Holy healthy living. This is truly what I aspire to and I aspire to share healthy habits with my family as well. Quiwi Foods has made this endeavor that much easier with the Turmeric Powder they have so generously provided for this review.

First of all, this item is so affordable and the 1 lb package arrived flat and easier to store until you open it. It does have a resealable seal but you will want to store it in an air tight glass container once you open it as it so fresh and pungent. You will want to keep it that way as when you are ready to use it, you want it to be the same bright beautiful color as well so you will know you are getting the most antioxidant goodness you can get! Also, if you do not keep this item in an air tight container, it may affect other items next to it as it can affect the taste of other food items if not in an airtight container. It is that fresh and strong!

I bought a capsule maker machine awhile back and really do enjoy making my own ginger capsules and as well as kelp capsules. This was my first foray into combining ginger powder with turmeric powder. My goal is to cut down on my digestive enzymes during meals. Because this Turmeric Powder was so fine it was easy peasy to mix with ginger (which was the same grind) to make the capsules. The Turmeric Powder did become less powdery and a bit heavier in consistency as there is a high humidity in my South Florida kitchen when I made the capsules.

I have to be honest in that I do not like Turmeric Powder of any ilk in my food and I did not test this powder in my food either. I prefer to take the vegetable capsules which I make instead so I cannot tell you how it tasted in food.

I did not have any after burps with the capsules and I did not have any indigestion so I know this product was high grade and a very important item for my pantry!

Tumeric and curcumin have been shown to reduce inflammation, cure depression, increase serotonin levels in the brain, and prevent certain types of cancer. It is a distant "cousin" of the ginger plant. Why not? Make your own capsules today and save and enjoy holy health!

So happy to have found this must-have digestive aid! This product was my first review for the BetterGenix line by OvitaminPro. I had been using Apex digestive aids for the past year. While they were working well, I did have to increase the amount I took in order to avoid the heart burn which I had been suffering from for so long. As a result, I began spending more and more as I needed to keep increasing the amount in order to feel good after eating. Apex is wonderful but I was looking for a better way to cut my budget.

I took one EnzymeGenix™ just before breakfast in place of the Apex product I had been taking. I was so happy as I had the same results and did not get heartburn! I took this product just before breakfast for 3 straight mornings = success!

I proceeded to lunch and soon realized I needed to take 2 just before lunch in order to avoid heartburn or reflux. I have a very sensitive stomach so after taking 2 I was pleased to have success with this product!

Dinner was a different story though. I do not know if I did not have as good of a result with dinner because we eat so late, or because I take numerous supplements currently with dinner, but even with taking 3 EnzymeGenix™ I still had a bit of burning in my belly.

I will soon be blood testing and seeing my doctor and hopefully will be taking less supplements at night which will help with heartburn. I will give EnzymeGenix™ another shot at dinner after figuring out why I have trouble avoiding bloating, belching and heartburn lately no matter which digestive aid I take.

This product is dairy free, gluten free, and I like the enteric coating so much better than the capsules I have been taking. I also appreciate that it has calcium as I do not take calcium in any of the other supplements I currently take.

Best part is that I am going to save a ton of money taking this product! I would not promote this product if it did not work. I totally agree that sometimes trying to cut corners you end up wasting money. That is not the case here and you will love not only the savings but you will love how good you feel after taking EnzymeGenix™! Raw Cacao Nibs from Quiwi Foods

Oh my goodness (literally)! I have been seeking cacao nibs which have a low sugar, cholesterol and sodium content. This product not only has low sugar, cholesterol and sodium but no sugar, cholesterol or sodium! As soon as I ripped open the packaging (couldn't wait to get started!) I could smell the burniliciously good chocolately aroma (I made up those words). Not sure what gives these nibs the almost smoky smell but I love it!

The dietary fiber is just under 40% for a 2 tablespoon serving size. These raw cacao nibs will be the perfect snack and 2 tablespoons is a handful of raw cacao nibs. So good for you and these cacao nibs actually taste like chocolate and have a crunchy texture. I cannot something so tasty can also be so good for you and even though the saturated fat is 7 grams, it is the good for you fat like avocados and coconut oil.

I also appreciate the iron, calcium, zinc potassium and magnesium.

This product arrived quickly and was packaged in a sturdy, attractive re-sealable plastic packaging. Of course I transferred it to a glass jar in my snack pantry as it is such a beautiful product and seeing it next to all of my other healthy snacks makes me smile.

ClearVite by Apex From OVitaminPro.com

I could not wait to post this review because this is truly a product which I cannot stop singing its praises. My first adventure with this 21-day detox system was with the ClearVite chocolate flavor a year ago. This product is the same product but it is vanilla. The first time I used this product I have to say it was a challenge. There is a food guide which you need to adhere to. Also, the program is like a "ladder" meaning you increase the amount of scoops and then come back down with the amount of scoops as you near the 21-day mark.

I just finished my second go 'round with ClearVite a month ago. While the food program was so much easier (I had adopted the food plan in my daily life as I felt so much better eating the ClearVite way) this time, the vanilla was not as good as the chocolate. I know taste is preferential. I had an aftertaste with the vanilla. The chocolate was not sweet but it felt more like a milkshake even when mixed with the same amount of water.

For my program, my doctor again advised we deviate from the standard directions given with this product. As a result, I went through 1 1/2 containers as compared to just using 1 container. My protocol was:
Days 1-4,  one shake b4 breakfast.
Days 5-7, one shake b4 breakfast and one b4 dinner.
Days 8-14 one b4 breakfast lunch and dinner.
Days 15-17 one b4 breakfast one b4 dinner.
Day 18-21 one shake b4 breakfast.

One shake = 2 scoops.

I keep the containers as they are food safe and bright white (and I think beautiful!). I fill them with cookies at Christmastime and give as gifts. Why not?

The first 3 days of this detox I felt cranky as my body was eliminating toxins. Midway through I slept so good and I started having more energy. I had more time as well since no more coffee (decaf even) and no wine. I steamed veggies until I could steam no more and then during the no animal proteins I ate even more veggies and enjoyed quinoa as if it were caviar. Needless to say, I lost 8 lbs. and my skin and eyes were clearer (and still are).

ClearVite is a plan and not just a product. With the complexities of my health, I know this detox is a must do item every six months. I have learned that I do not drink enough water or take in enough fiber as during this plan I became constipated quite often (ewwww). I am a firm believer in disciplines in which we take a step back and slow down so that we can reset not only our bodies but our minds as well. And so the first 3 days were my reset days in which I realized that I often forget to take care of this temple God has given me.

I mean, we all get busy and stressed and forget to slow down. ClearVite is that "You Deserve It" product everyone should enjoy now and then. And you say, How can you enjoy a detox? Call me crazy but I do believe a detox is a discipline and in some way it is enjoyable after you are done. You look back at your hard work and realize you did something difficult and you did not give up.

The Button Legacy by Ginger Marcinkowski

Rarely do I come across a book I consider my friend and so gleefully I declare that I already miss my time in the pages of this wonderful read which had quickly become my daily friend. Without being a spoiler, the author Ginger Marcinkowski had a warm way of drawing me into the lives of a family of which I feel are now a part of my heart. I wished I had first read the previous book by the same author which is Run, River Currents which precedes The Button Legacy.

Nevertheless, I cheered and cried and was taken back to my own childhood memories. This book's theme is the story telling of those who wore garments with the buttons which the family had kept. Stories were told of the buttons and the people surrounding the history of the buttons. 

In Chapter One, my memory of my mother's button canister came back to me. I remembered smelling the buttons. Yes, they had a certain smell. I had forgotten the smell until I read this book. Reading a book and being reminded of good childhood memories is such a precious gift!

The gentle weaving of God into the pages made me feel at  home. This book was a testament to a gentle evangelism as I very much appreciated the respect and honor given by the parents leaving their children a godly heritage. I wish I had the same love bestowed on me from my own grandfather, I know it would have made me feel special and loved and I know it would have made a big difference in how I would see myself as I grew into a woman. Alas, more reasons to love having been drawn into this book and having this book on my bookshelf as a reminder that books can become friends. Stories can be blessings and blessings can be gleaned from sharing stories about buttons.

I will never look at buttons the same way again! I most likely will do as this family did and cut buttons off clothing which held memories. I will choose the buttons which hold positive memories as well as dark days. I want to remember everything because we know the dark days allow the bright days to shine even brighter.

Immuno PRP Spray by NuMedica from OVitaminPro.com

I recently reviewed Immuno PRP Powder by NuMedica. That product was a new find for me recommended by my doctor. Upon my recent wellness checkup, my doctor and I discussed me eliminating casein from my diet while I did the 21- day Clearvite Detox. I wondered if casein could be the culprit for some of my allergies such as runny nose in the morning (just after taking my Immuno PRP Powder. Immuno PRP Powder contains casein).

My doctor recommended this handy 5 oz. spray as it does not contain casein. I could not sing its praises more! My symptoms went away during my 21 day detox. However, I did eliminate all dairy products and whey also during those 21 days, so I knew I had to re-introduce casein after the 21 Day detox to see if casein was ever really an issue.

Immuno PRP Spray would give me some immune help but not as much as the powder. For this reason my doctor advised that if I began to have an autoimmune flareup I would need to not just take 4 sprays in the morning and at night, but also take 4 sprays in the afternoon until I felt better (I did have a flareup of a cold just after starting the spray, but I took my doctor's advise and felt much better in just two days time.)

I find the spray convenient and much easier to spray than scoop powder into water and mix. 

I am grateful to www.ovitaminpro.com as I did not realize I was supposed to spray into my mouth and wait 30 seconds before swallowing. Not sure of the benefit of doing this, but I will now wait 30 seconds before swallowing! 

I realized after comparing these two seemingly similar products that even with my doctor's help advising what I need and when, I still need to be educated about what I am putting into my body. Having the knowledge about the product allows me to question and learn more so that I can become an active participant with my doctor to achieve my best health ever.

I did contact NuMedica prior to posting this entry because I wanted to be accurate about my comparison of the powder and the spray. Unfortunately, I cannot say that the manufacturer was excited to inform me about the difference of both products. However, Mary from www.OVitaminPro.com put a call in to the manufacturer. I was quite comforted by this as www.OVitaminPro.com is my go to and a safe place for me to get accurate product information. They care! NuMedica is a cutting edge company and I am not knocking them at all, just a disappointed customer of their brand because I did not get the answers I had been seeking from them.
