Journey to Christmas: 2 DVD Set

Loved it!
This anointed double DVD set was beautifully delivered. The scenes magnificent as well as the sounds crisp and clear. I forgot I was watching from my couch. I felt as if I were taking this very special Christmas Journey along with the 5 Modern Wise Men!

The cast of characters:
Rory - Jewish and Christian Roots but has better understanding of what love is with family than God.
Nazreth - Protestant and Catholic upbringing but searching and looking for inspiration to reignite her artistic endeavors.
Drew - Adopted and in a crisis of faith. He is searching to have a personal encounter with God.
Kim - She has found faith but still has doubts and wants to prove that the Gospel is not just a "White man's Gospel."
Dusty - A born again lover of Jesus Christ just excited to walk where Jesus walked.

Where do I begin to explain this wonderful presentation? There were so many interesting facts given about when Jesus was born, how he lived, who he interacted with, and just the Middle East in general.
The other aspect of this "reality experience" was the interaction and shared experience of the five strangers that became friends. Their guide Nazir Shaheen (bless his heart!) has such an obvious love for the land and he is gentle and sincere in his wanting Drew especially to understand the Truth of the Bible and how so much of what they experienced matters.

My favorite part of Journey to Christmas was in the Church at Shepherd's Field when Dusty sang. Oh my! Tears flowed. I found myself watching Dusty throughout the experience. Drew also was drawn to her and even admitted he was a bit jealous to see Dusty's obvious love of Jesus. Dusty exuded an almost flower-child aura which really appealed to me. I also saw that same quality in Nazreth.

Nazreth was quite but respectful and her summary after being home awhile really touched my heart. I appreciated hearing how each of the five sojourners felt about their time in Israel after they had been home awhile. I was sad I admit that a few of them hadn't come closer to a personal relationship with God, but like Dusty said, You never know what lessons will be learned later in life after experiencing what the group experienced (my quote).

I wanted to scream when the group was hanging out talking about The Wailing Wall. I cheered for Drew and sighed as Rory didn't see the deeper meaning to what was happening at the wall. Nazreth got it and she came away from that wall with a new respect for people and the faith of those who mourned and prayed at that wall. I truly hope the religious aspects of the trip were explained in context with Old Testament and New Testament. Sadly, many in Israel are religious but not in relationship with Jesus Christ. I pray all four (Dusty got it) understand life is not about religion, but relationship. Religion was present and I pray all the pieces came together and that the group will one day understand why Jesus died for them (especially Drew. He pulled at my heart strings!!)

Golgotha was hard to see and I cried along with Dusty. There were so many joys and emotional scenes. I plan to watch this DVD again and again and to share it with as many as possible. This 4-session Holy Land Study experience should be part of a youth group, Advent, small groups and in so many more venues. It was a precious film and a wonderful example of the fact that the Bible is true and that our faith is a gift.

Praise God Bible experts were included: Hugh Ross, Paul Maier, Craig Evans, Claire Pfann and Stephen Pfann. This was truly a special experience for me and I am so grateful to Tyndale for this amazing opportunity to review such an amazing product!

Women of Faith Imagine: Ft. Lauderdale

Oh my! Where do I begin? Saturday's Imagine venue was truly life-changing. Words cannot express the Holy-Spirit anointed, from-the-heart testimonials. Each speaker touched me in a special way that I will never forget.

First of all, our seats were unimaginable! We were seated on the ground floor and within rows and directly behind the speakers and Mary Mary. I had the blessing of personally thanking Lisa Harper . I mouthed a "thank you" as she walked by. The Imagine Team and worship singers walked by our row all day long. Awesome and humbling!

Lisa Harper weaved her opening tale in a way that no doubt everyone was surprised and entertained by her account of a jog in the park. What was harder to hear was her account of being raped in a bar at a young age because her father was having an affair with a waitress. I cried the whole time. I related to so much of what she said about not having a child. We all cheered when she shared her story about adopting a "brown baby". We also cheered when she took off her jacket!

Nicole Johnson gave me a double dose of blessing. I will never forget how she shared her story of being invisible yet seen by God. Each speaker held a prop to emphasize their main talking point. She held a big picture book. I didn't just enjoy her presentation. I actually felt as if I were eating a feast. Feasting on every word, eating up everything offered by someone who so clearly understood! Throughout the entire day, confirmation of things God had been speaking to me kept hitting me between the eyes. Nicole's presentation glittered brighter than the mirror balls overhead. Though she wore black, she was the brightest vision to me because she understood my pain, my perfectionism and my struggles to be seen - performance issues. Thank you Nicole Johnson!

Angie Smith was my favorite speaker (sorry God, I know You don't have favorites!) Yes, I understand why the Women of Faith program stated, "Women around the world feel as though they're lifelong friends with Angie Smith-and most of them have never met her in person..." I appreciated (understatement) her transparent sharing of her hard moments. "Special" does not describe the invitation she gave to women in the arena who had experienced the loss of a baby no matter what the circumstances. Her family photos made me cry (in a bittersweet way) for I was so happy for her and yet so sad at the same time. I cannot fully explain the depth of gratitude to have gleaned from her experience. I will never forget all she shared. Her happy moments balanced her presentation and she seemed like someone I would run into the grocery store and instantly feel connected to her. Praise God Angie Smith obediently followed God's calling to encourage women!

Luci Swindoll reminded me that there are way too few Titus women in my world! She was calming and wise in her sharing of the necessity of music in one's life. She was a slower speaker and less physically expressive in her presentation but compassion, subtle humor and love exuded from her in a way that made me long for home. I don't feel I know as much about Luci Swindoll, the woman as she seemed to talk more about others and situations and less about her hard times. However, she seemed to be the calming, steady  force on the Imagine Team.

Sheila Walsh left me with the takeaway of a lifetime! Her bummer lamb I will never ever forget. I went to bed Saturday night replaying her account of the farmer. On Sunday morning the vision of Sheila standing there so close yet up on the stage clutching that stuffed lamb was seared in my brain. She held it not just in an embrace, but up high near her chin just as a child would do. A child would hold that animal tight so that no one in the world would ever take it from her. I was reminded of my own difficult childhood and wishing I had someone to hold me. No doubt the bummer lamb will be what I become in the lives of others. Because without God caring for me (the rejected lamb) and calling me by name, I would be dead - or in a very bad way.

Mary Mary blessed me with music. My friend Elizabeth and I danced and laughed and yelled the lyrics out loud (no one minded!). The timing for Mary Mary was perfect as we were feeling a bit sluggish after the tasty box lunch Women of Faith provided. Because I have been asked to review this venue, I would be doing a disservice if I did not share a few facts that concerned me about the talking time with Mary Mary. Twice one of the duo used the Lord's name in vain (yes). Also, she made a statement that Mary the mother of God was perfect. Maybe some Catholics believe this, but I was a bit surprised by her doctrinal statement. Lastly, she stated several times that we are all God's children. That statement was not biblical. For if it was, then why did Luci Swindoll give an invitation to salvation (Romans 10:9-11).

Because I am a hard core evangelical born again Christian - as my blog states, I will give you the Truth! not sugar-coat or tell you what you want to hear. I believe this transparency gives value and helps to help you make a great event even more fantastic!!!

Thank you Thomas Nelson and Women of Faith for the great seating! I know you wanted me to feel like a VIP (and I did). I tweeted the whole time but forgot to take pictures (was having too much fun).

I filled out the blogging paperwork in the middle of the program. I did want to tell you that it was difficult to see the pink-colored and fine print on the form. Even though they raised the house lights, I had a hard time making out the text. I believe you may not receive as many of those forms back because of the visibility challenge. Maybe you could make the fonts larger, black or even use both sides. Also, the form said to hand in at the concourse. That was confusing. I believe others may have been confused by that direction as well because the friendly basket-holding volunteer at the exit doors only had one returned form (we turned ours in at the book stand) and there were flocks of women flying by...

Imagine I will never ever forget. I cannot express my gratitude enough for the opportunity to review this venue. I met so many wonderful women and made memories to last a lifetime. I will be a better wife, a stronger woman, a more faithful friend - - and yes, I will always embrace the fact that I am a bummer lamb - and always the first to respond to my Father's call. The first because I know His voice. Imagine that?! My life will never be the same again. Thank you Imagine Women of Faith!!!

Women of Faith: Ft. Lauderdale Imagine!

Got to the stadium forty minutes late but a hearty thank you to Lexus for waiving the $20 parking fee! Because Lexus is a sponsor, and my friend drove her Lexus to the stadium we were passed on through gratis!!

We arrived just as Ken Kingston began his ever-so very funny Comedy Central but clean as a whistle routine! He cracked us up with phrases his wife says. He called them "Heatherisms". Loved every minute of it. His time on the stage was too short!

A Women of Faith Worship Team blessed us with beautiful songs. In Christ Alone was my favorite.

Unfortunately, Natalie Grant, the singer for the evening did not arrive due to a travel limitation placed on her by her doctor. And we were surprised when the house lights came on at 8:45 as the schedule stated the venue to be finished at 10:00 pm.

My friend and I missed the Nicole Johnson skit. I was more disappointed to realize Sheila Walsh was not going to speak (love her!).

I can't wait until tomorrow. I am going with a real die-hard WOFer! She knew every single thing about the event. Told me she has been going for many years. She smiled when she announced lunch was included and that we would be together the entire day. I am so blessed to be reviewing this event. I cannot thank Women of Faith and Thomas Nelson enough for the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing and inspirational venue in Ft. Lauderdale!

Imagine is truly a vacation from my mind....

Shadow in Serenity by Terri Blackstock

Shadow in Serenity by Terri Blackstock can be described in one word. Amazing! Usually I do not end up speechless when describing a book.

As I was introduced and the characters became familiar to me, I felt like I was watching a movie. A sign of a really good read is forgetting you are holding a book in your living room. In this book, I was literally transformed into the town of Serenity. I admired Carny and appreciated her spunkiness. Her story inspired me and I saw her as the "good guy" amongst a sea of naive residents.

I related to the author's weaving the gullible characters and their reasoning against the wisdom and streets smarts that Carny had learned in her childhood. Her son was precious and I admired her faithfulness to giving her son a godly upbringing.

This love story was told in such a way that was not preachy to the reader. I do believe this book  would appeal to a nonbeliever as well. The salvation message was presented in a gentle way. Carny stuck to the Bible in the way she handled each situation. I was allowed many glimpses into her human frailty. The contrast of her hardness combined with her vulnerability to love was a pleasure to behold!

I would do cartwheels if  a sequel to this wonderfully woven story was made. I recommend Shadow in Serenity unreservedly to anyone seeking to escape for awhile while going nowhere but your living room. You will experience serenity in a whole new way!

Abundant Life Day Book: 365 Blessings to Begin Your Day by Nancy Guthrie

Beautiful, Holy-Spirit inspired - a hug each and every day. Abundant Life Day Book asks many questions in each day's devotional. I love questions because the questions allow me to spend introspective time with God.
So many other daily devotionals suffer from wordiness with more preaching and less exhortation. I found the questions thoughtful and refreshing. Each day began with a theme, and then a Scripture verse to support the statement. However, my favorite part was the conversation that followed. The conversation was not written from author Nancy Guthrie. The author has posed the conversation as if it were from God to the reader!!!

How special to pick up a beautiful devotional book such as this and flip open that day's devotional and let God through His Holy Spirit ask questions and share modern day struggles, challenges, ups and downs with me? Having each day written this way allowed me an element of expectation. What will tomorrow's devo contain? (yes, I flipped ahead and I know many readers will read the next day's devo the day ahead because it is that good!) No doubt, each day will take less than five minutes to read. However, the takeaway and the feasting throughout the entire day on what the reader read that morning will be so helpful in fighting the good fight (Ephesians 6)!

Nancy Guthrie has given her reader not only a devotional book but a resource to last many years and beyond. It will be a perpetual reminder that anyone who cracks it open can glean more of God's goodness and learn personally about God's plan for him/her (Jeremiah 29:11.)

This book is abundantly filled with many reminders to live a life pleasing to Him! A wonderful Christmas gift. Perfect to carry in your purse or keep on your nightable. Before you put your feet on the floor in the morning, be reminded of how much God loves you and wants a personal relationship with you. Well done Nancy Guthrie!

The Chew: Daytime on ABC

Every once in awhile a gem of a tv show pops up and I cannot help but shoot a post about it. The Chew is one such family-friendly food-focused  fabulous find Monday-Friday 1:00 eastern! It replaced the long-time running All My Children in that time slot. I dvr just about everything nowadays. My dvr is perfect for this program. I don't want to miss a single show! You will understand why after watching it for the first time. The co hosts are Clinton Kelly, Mario Batali, Michael Symon (love him!), Carla Hall and Daphne Oz.

Check out a sample below. You can see more at http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/the-chew.

Carla Hall is one of those people you want in your life. She exudes warmth, unconditional love and a proud heritage and an unabashedly exuberant joyous excitement for family and cooking for family. No doubt each co host intertwined their love of cooking with family, but Carla Hall doesn't just talk about it. Her whole body literally does a happy dance when it is her turn to share her recipes.

I was not as wowed as the rest of the watching world when Paula Deen was the celebrity guest last week. She kind of took over and cut off my new The Chew bff Carla Hall. I don't care how famous you are - you are still a guest and grandstanding never is acceptable. I was shocked when Paula Deen double dipped into the pudding and then leaned over the entire bowl to dig in for more. Gross!

Other than a few minor infractions this show rocks!!! I am glad it is not rehearsed and polished to perfection. I enjoy the spontaneity so very much. Can't wait for Monday's The Chew!

Behind the Veils of Yemen by Audra Grace Shelby

This book written by first time author Audra Grace Shelby (not her real name btw.) Her name and her family's names have been changed to protect their identity as they are still serving in Islamic countries and must have their identities hidden for protection) was an eye opening peek into a world that I have never given much consideration.

I was changed forever about my views on missionaries and missionaries bringing their young families to the mission field. In this case, the family was headed to Yemen for a four-year commitment. I approached this book with a negative mindset. I judged this woman from the start, "How could that family even consider placing their three young children in a third-world country that is dangerous and hostile to Christians?" I did not realize the extent of this culture in regard to their disrespect for women and girls either (to discuss in detail later).

Why Yemen?
I detected the same doubt and judgment I felt in beginning this story confirmed by others in the book starting on page 13. A flight attendant clearly was appalled to know the family was headed to live in Yemen. And on page 14 I quote, "I leaned back against my own headrest and closed my eyes. Words from a well-meaning friend echoed in my ear, "How can you take those babies to live in a place like that?"

Again page 15 ushered in doubt, this time from Audra's lips, "I bit my lip, remembering my apprehension when we knew God was calling us to Yemen. I had envisioned an easier place, such as a village near a beach in the Caribbean. But God was leading us to a place plagued with poverty and sickness and strict adherence to Islamic law, a place where evangelism was forbidden. I had dug in my heels. "Kevin, I'm not sure we should raise our children in a place like Yemen. Look how many children die before they are six! It could be dangerous for them as well as us."

God led the Way
Halfway  through this book I relaxed. I gleaned the details of a culture I knew nothing about. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing of Audra's adventures, emotions, trials and joys. Her writer's voice was so down-to-earth yet explicit in describing dirt and wind in a way that was so helpful in allowing me to feel I was right alongside of her experiencing Yemen for the first time with her family. I really appreciated her willingness to be transparent in all areas of the journey.

Page 102 introduced for the first time the fact that this family's faith put to rest the doubts about being in God's will in their decision to go to the mission field in Yemen. I cried as I read and experienced her relief and her connection with God. A simple thing as a crate that had been "lost" and found God used to remind Audra that He saw her, He loved her, and that He would protect her and her family, " Tears began to fill my eyes. I sat quietly, understanding the answer I had been seeking, an answer that had been with me all along. The difference in my faith was that Jesus is alive. I talked with Him, and He talked with me because He was not someone dead and gone. He interactively and authoritatively reigned in my life. Whether I had been taught about Him or taught about someone else did not change who He is. It did not stop His living presence No teaching or religion could change or substitute that. I remembered Fatima's words. "You are qawia, strong in your heart." I realized that what made me strong was living strength, given by Someone who could only supply it if He was alive. "You are Messiah!" I whispered."..."I looked again at the sky. "Thank you, Lord," I whispered. "Thank you for answering my doubts and helping me remember the difference."

Amen! I was convicted by a situation in which Audra shared her struggles to reach the people. She had emailed a friend in the US. Her friend's response was a bit like Job's friends when Job was going through his trials. I realized I may have responded the very same way to a missionary. However, I will not behave in that manner after reading Behind the Veils of Yemen!

I could speak for days about the chock-full of informative details of this book but instead will end with one more realization I gleaned from page 191.Audra arrived to visit some women in a hut. As she approached the hut, she saw and heard a seven-month old baby flailing in the dirt unattended. The baby had "soiled" its clothes (they don't use diapers). This baby's mother was not present in the town and this would not have happened to a baby if it were a boy. Hard-to-hear details about abuse of baby girls, young girls and women ripped my heart apart. However, what was harder to bare (and no doubt awful for Audra to bare) was the fact that if we as Christians are going to love and mentor these women, we must not interfere in that type of situation immediately - if we are to evangelize. Audra shared that taking that baby girl out of the dirt would have offended the women, not only because Audra was a Christian (Christians cannot touch the Koran and many other rules) but because their custom dictated otherwise. Self-control was the order of the day for Audra in that village!

I do believe the audience for this book no doubt would be born again Christian women of all ages. Highly recommended reading for young girls mission minded or otherwise. A man would benefit from reading this book if he were sensitive to the needs of women Christian or otherwise. But, I do believe the author's voice would best be received by women.

I cheered when Audra shared about going back to Yemen at the end of the book. She had her two-month old baby on her lap in the plane. She shared that many at home were worried about the health of their newborn suffering SIDS, which is quite prevalent in third-world societies with babies of that age. However, this time I smiled because I had come to a place of understanding. It is up to each of us to decide what God's will is for us and our families. It may not make sense to others (and often not even to us) but God will confirm or deny our mission. We must keep our eyes fixed on Jesus - the author and finisher of our faith! Audra did and her story supported this fact. Pick up this life-changing book today. You will never look at missions the same way again - - and for me that was a very good thing!

Thank You, God, for Blessing Me by Max Lucado

This book was written for pre-school age children and effectively taught its reader how to be grateful. Beautifully illustrated and simple to understand, Max Lucado has once again caused me to tear up at the words a bug emits. I love flowers and the fact was not lost on me that the bugs were engulfed in large flowers, a beautiful blue sky and colorful fruits and greenery.

The sun beamed brightly across an entire page as the ladybug and purple fly held dandelions as if they were ready to shake them and let loose the wispy seeds (remember growing up - blowing the dandelion seeds into the wind as your dad yelled because they would make more work for him?! I do, so that page was extra special for me).

This petite storybook ended as the night ushered in stars and a periwinkle sky. This book was comforting and simply delightful. No doubt this book would be a great stocking stuffer or part of a baby shower gift. Thank you, God, for Blessing Me is a blessing. Thank you, Max Lucado, for blessing me once again with your gift of writing and your sharing Little Hermie's gratitude in a big way!

The PhotoFacials Sun Damage Reversal System:

The PhotoFacials Sun Damage Reversal System:

  • Daily Exfoliating Cleanser (2 oz)
  • Day Moisturizer with SPF50 (1 oz)
  • Night Moisturizer (1 oz)

  • I reviewed this product as a "kit" using each of the above products according to the directions. Each product clearly had it's own unique properties. Here is my review of each:

Step 1: The Daily Exfoliating Cleanser had a nice clean scent and was easy to get a lather as I used it with a sea sponge. I made sure to rinse it off completely. If you do not place your face under running water it is a bit difficult to get all of the lather off. My skin was not dry after using, but I did use Step 2 (Day Moisturizer with SPF 50) just before my face fully dried.

Step 2: I learned very quickly that this product while sporting an amazingly high SPF Factor for day - was not a product that I could apply right onto my skin and wear through my day. First of all, the moisturizer left a whitish, greasy look on my face. I do believe adding less of it to a tinted moisturizer or base foundation would be a great idea. I appreciated the sun protection but not the heavy look and feel of the product. I do not recommend this product as a stand alone but definitely as a product in conjunction with another.

Step 3: Night Moisturizer was my favorite product by far. It smelled so fresh and was light on my face. In the morning, I would not have known I had applied it. Step 3 was the most successful step of my foray with PhotoFacials Sun Damage Reversal System.

Appearance-wise I cannot honestly say I see any marked improvement in my skin. It has only been two weeks of me using the products. The manufacturer states improvement can be seen in four weeks of using Kinerase.

Dermelect Smooth Upper Lip and Perioral Anti-Aging

This product does what it claims to do - and in a very short time!! I used this pleasant scented, non-greasy creme twice a day for three days straight. The very first time I applied it, I felt it tightening my upper lip. I also saw vertical cracks on my lip line that I had not previously noticed.

Seemed the product tightened, then filled in (as another reviewer described) the crevices and tiny cracks in my skin. I did not notice an improvement in the sun damage and dark shading on my face but I am confident continued use of Dermelect will satisfy that claim as well.

I would buy this product and make it part of my beauty regime. There is no need to continue searching for an anti-aging, sun damage reversal lip creme. I do believe this product will fit the bill!!

Burberry Body: the New Fragrance for Women

Yes! I chose to "Like" this product so that I could receive a free vial of this perfume! You can get yours too (really and honestly it is not a gimmick!) by going toBurberry's Facebook page and Liking them. The link is https://www.facebook.com/burberry.

I was quite impressed to receive this perfume in a box with a pretty notecard sized linen-finished postcard announcing it's arrival. I did visit their website and though the model in the sepia colored "Advert" video advertised the perfume, she was also advertising her beautiful physique (albeit tastefully).

While I would not leave the postcard which was included in my free perfume box laying around for my husband to see (the beautiful blonde from the Advert in the flesh-colored trench coat is on the reverse side of the postcard), I would recommend you go to their Facebook page and get a free sample of this high-end perfume for yourself. Dab it anywhere you dare. It is downright scrumptious and enjoyable to say the least.

Sorry to say, I twisted off the top of the glass vial and was met with a metal spring and when I pushed the black plastic lid down, the perfume squirted right into my left eye (I am okay really). However,  I wore the perfume the night I got it and loved every second of it!

I am going to wear it tomorrow nite to date night with my husband. No matter that we are attending a Publix Apron's Italian Wine & Dinner demonstration, my Burberry will no doubt rise above the garlic and get the attention of my always visually and scent-driven husband. I will not be in a trench coat but a white apron and look and smell beautiful!

Get yours today - no need for the trench coat. The perfume speaks for itself! And what girl doesn't want to try free perfume? None I know. This offer is for real. Get yours today.

Green Apple Peel - Sensitive by Juice Beauty

Scent was first and foremost as I slathered this green apple peel for sensitive skin on my face and neck. The cast of characters in the ingredient list were: Retinol (Vitamin A), Vitamin C, SPF, Vitamin E, Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Essential Oils. As if the ingredient list didn't impress enough, this facial mask was formulated with a blend of glycolic acid (from sugar cane), citric acid (from lemon), malic acid (from apple juice), lactic acid (from milk extract) and tartaric acid (from white grape juice).

Add to that, Juice Beauty's Green Apple Peel - Sensitive was made from 100% organically grown products, Paraben free and a PETA product.

This product smelled great, was non-intimidating in the manner in which it was made to be applied it - with my fingers. I did make sure I applied a generous layer as the directions stated. I also waited the full 10 minutes before rinsing off with warm water and a sea sponge that I always use for rinsing my face. I did not experience a tingling sensation as the directions mentioned may happen in those 10 minutes prior to rinsing. I did, however, see a slightly red patch of skin on the left side of my temple that I noticed for the first time as I rinsed my face. It disappeared soon after.

No doubt the tone of my skin increased. My skin had a healthier sheen even before I added my usual day moisturizer.  I have to say the exfoliation value in this product was amazing, considering how gently it treated my skin. I have to believe the power and the punch in this product was the Alpha Hydroxy Acid complex.

The power of fruit in a product is truly refreshing to see! Okay so an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but a Green Apple Peel - Sensitive application by Juice Beauty once a week no doubt will keep the dry lines, dull skin and aged appearance away. Convenient size, great value for the price and so very natural. Met my "If you can't eat it, don't use it" test. I'm sold!

IB Revitalizer Overnight Oil Treatment Spray by Jonathan Product

Sometimes a product comes along that leaves me speechless (does not happen often!). This was one such product that I struggled with to give proper homage to the product and its creator. Therefore, I decided to break out an acronym and let the words speak for themselves. Here goes...

    Super great idea
Probably need to sleep in a shower cap while this amazing product does its magic
Extra curly and full of body after washing the next day
    Created with a great fragrance
    I love this product!!!
A must-have for any beauty arsenal
Love the convenience and uniqueness of conditioning hair while getting my zzz's

I did not have the IB Purifier on hand for this review. However, I washed my hair in the kitchen sink with baby shampoo and warm water. I applied an inexpensive conditioner and waited a few minutes before I rinsed out then towel dried. I let my hair air dry (I always do) and voila! I was looking at curly, shiny hair within the hour. I also noticed a drastic improvement with less frizz.

I am looking forward to experimenting with additional hair products immediately after using the IB Revitalizer and then styling with a blow dryer to see how straight hair will look after using this product.

Important: This product is for those with dull,color-treated or fine hair. I qualified in all three categories. The directions state to use twice weekly for four weeks, then 2-3 a month for continuous results (which I plan on doing).

This product smelled great, worked amazing, and was fun to apply and sleep with (in my hair). It will be one of those loyal "go to" products in my hair arsenal. I felt pampered, my hair felt pampered and the entire experience was successful and fun! I am still speechless....

Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy by Eric Metaxas

How blessed was I to have the chance to review this anointed work by author Eric Metaxas!  The New York Times best-selling author of Amazing Grace has once again delivered a book that helps one better understand how evil can take hold of a nation yet how one person can stand up for righteousness. I am a passionate student of everything Bonhoeffer. I digested this 544 page book in quick order.

One cannot read this book without also reading the Foreword by Timothy J. Keller and the Prologue which introduced the context of WWII as it related to those loved and best knew Dietrich Bonhoeffer. As the subtitled Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy so aptly gave this man several hats, the Prologue segues the reader into a well laid foundation for Dietrich Bonhoeffer the child into the man with all of the hats the subtitle awarded him.

I found it fascinating that Dietrich's mother home schooled her children and had a liberal slant in regard to faith. Dietrich grew into a faithful follower of Jesus Christ after his travels brought him to realize who God was and how the face of evil belonged to the enemy of God.

A nice touch were the photos in two sections of the book. There were several photos of Adolph Hitler and the Holocaust Museum. A copy of his handwritten poem Who Am I was also included. Here is a link to it. It is too special not to share in this review. Hear it below with text.

The biggest takeaway for me after I digested Bonhoeffer was my increased ability to relate to him. Clearly, his love for God allowed me to understand his passion to fight evil at all costs. He loved God and sought to serve Him and only Him. He became a martyr because he did not back down in the face of evil. This book inspired me to keep serving God despite persecution on a small or very large scale.

    Instant Radiance Moisturiser by Decleor

Oranges. Vitamin C. Figs. I couldn't wait to review this product! It exuded a healthy and yumminess - almost tasty enough to eat for breakfast! Even though it was labeled as "instant" I gave this moisturiser a full five day test drive. I watched the instructional video to the left and applied a pearl size amount on my neck and face in the morning and at night. True to it's claim, you can wear this moisturiser under your makeup without it feeling greasy.

Because of the vitamins and antioxidants (and bright and happy yellow tube) I knew my skin was receiving a treat. Because I am in the sun often, this would be the perfect accompaniment for me to throw into my beach bag and apply before I apply sunscreen. I have found after being in the sun and wearing sunscreen my skin becomes tan but greasy and dry at the same time. Instant radiance moisturiser would solve both of those problems at one time.

I often make a homemade citrus scrub with olive oil, lemon juice or extract and salt. Instant Radiance Moisturiser by Decleor smells just like my homemade concoction! The fruit extracts are wonderful and so much more convenient than me having to "whip up" a batch of my own recipe. I look forward to reviewing more of Decleor's products. I am encouraged because of the natural elements (free radical protection and PETA product as well!).

Loved the back-to-basics philosophy of this product. This product falls in line with my philosophy as well, "If you can't eat it, you shouldn't use it!" I would buy it! Don't just take my opinion as Gospel tho - check out Dr. Craig's review of Decleor http://www.dermstore.com/reviews/details_Decleor_5835.htm for yourself.

    Rejuvenating Treatment Masque by Exuviance

I was excited to review this product as a good peel is hard to find. I was not disappointed! I cleansed my face, then applied and left on for the full 20 minutes. It would be easy to forget you have the masque on so set a kitchen timer. This masque did not tighten up and dry out like most other peels I have used.

I realized upon attempting to peel it off that I had not slathered the product on thick enough to actually peel it off so instead I washed it off with warm water and a sea sponge. I enjoyed the fresh clean scent and did not have dry skin after I dried my face.

    I have a confession tho.
At first when I unscrewed the cap and smelled the product for a mini-second, I was briefly reminded of Elmer's glue (I know that doesn't sound nice but it is true).
I did want to point out that the box states "Ideal for normal/combination skin." The tube states "For all skin types" and the web description states "Suitable For These Skin Types: Combination, Flush, Oily, Normal, Sensitive, Dry, All." I'd say then that all the bases are covered. Any age would benefit from using this product.

I would def recommend this product for an at-home peel. It is a great value. Going to a spa is not only expensive but inconvenient for a person on the go. My lasting impression was great and I look forward to using Exuviance Treatment Masque often.

Spa Face Aromatherapy Neroli Water by Kerstin Florian

Oh my! I wanted to jump into an ocean full of this product and never come up for air! Spa Face Aromatherapy Neroli Water refreshed the second the light mist hit my face, and my neck, and my arms... The scent of bitter orange calmed me. Interestingly, the scent was reminiscent of all of the white flowers I have come to love throughout my lifetime. Did Spa Face create this product exclusively for me? :-)

I spritzed this neroli water throughout my day. The petite bottle allowed me to stash it away in my purse, on my bathroom sink, on the go. It was the perfect size to take with me should I want to have it handy on a flight or checked in my luggage.

No doubt this product serves two purposes: 1. Tones (sans cotton ball) 2. Refreshes and revitalizes in seconds. This product is clearly a mood booster and much needed in our stressful day--to-day existence.

See it for yourself! See Ms. Florian's Youtube presentation by clicking here.

Buy one for your enemy. He/She will become your best friend. Buy one for your best friend to prevent him/her from taking yours - thus becoming your enemy. Hey, I may even buy my Mother-In-Law a bottle - maybe she will finally give me her sauce recipe!

Optical Illusions Colore - Corrector Pen "Dust in the Wind" by Colorescience Pro

As I reviewed this product I realized for me -  this product had a bit of a learning curve in regard to 1. choosing the correct color for the correct season 2. how to get the cap off. As I tackled the easier task - I realized the longer gold cap was what I needed to pull off and the shorter gold cap was the handle which I needed to twist until the product appeared on the sponge head as shown to the right.  I applied the shade Dust in the Wind under my eyes as well as under my eye brows.

I asked, "Why not?" as I applied to my eyelids. At first, I thought the color was too dark as it appeared ruddy within the first few seconds I applied it. However, as I lightly rubbed all of the product into my skin I realized what an amazing product Optical Illusions was for an evening out. My skin tone absorbed and embraced it!
Currently, I have a bronzed skin tone from tanning in the South Florida sun. Therefore, this shade was perfect for me for now. However, after researching more about this unique creamy powder, I plan to investigate the shade Remedy that Red for my particular skin color and tone for those months when I do not have a suntan.
Just a hint about the sponge applicator. It was a bit scratchy then I realized I had run out of product on the tip. As soon as I twisted more product, I got way too much all at once. I learned to be patient and just twist a few times so that I would not waste the product. Having just enough product on the sponge tip is key to successfully adding it. Make sure you rub it in with your finger. The rubbing in of the product allowed it to successfully blend in with my skin and do it's work effectively. Before I blended it in, it was way too dark.

Optical Illusions Colore Corrector Pen is a unique as well as a multi purpose product. I felt it had cutting-edge appeal for all ages and skin tones. It truly delivered the promise of reducing puffiness and fine lines. The zinc oxide and titanium dioxide for UV protection is a nice added bonus for daytime use.

I would recommend those considering purchasing this product to do your research beforehand. Meaning, read the full description at Dermstore.com so you will know which shade is perfect for you for when you want to wear it (remember - it serves many purposes for many seasons).

Check it out today as there is a Free Gift with Purchase as of the date of this review. Also, DermStore offers free shipping on all orders all the time. No time to waste! Those puffy eyes could use some  carrot oil to nourish, cocoa butter to moisturize, and who would turn down dark chocolate extract which will brighten your eyes (and not add an ounce to the scale). Optical Illusions Colore Corrector Pen delivers all that and more!
